My Mission Statement

 

My mission as a professional school counselor is to posses the knowledge, abilities, skills, and attitudes necessary to plan, organize, and implement a comprehensive, developmental, results-based school counseling program that aligns with the ASCA National Model (http://schoolcounselor.org).   In addition, I will connect the comprehensive school counseling program to the mission of the district/school and the goals of the school/district improvement plan. Equally important is multicultural competence and it's effect on system change.  I believe it is vital to be aware of diversity issues in the school by monitoring the academic progress of students of poverty, cultural diversity, second-language issues, etc., and by being in touch with the climate of the school.   I will collaborate with teachers data elements and help develop strategies for school improvement issues. I will rethink and refine strategies, refocus efforts, and reflect on success when necessary.  Lastly, my goal is to positively impact the school counseling program, student achievement, and the district/school improvement plan.
